Cavite active COVID-19 cases record an almost 100% hike

CAVITE – The number of active coronavirus cases as of August 15, 2022 recorded a 96 percent increase since one month ago, according to the data published by Cavite Provincial Information Office.

The upward trend continues as the cumulative case count in the province is 229,102, second among the top five provinces/cities in the country with Quezon City at the top, 256,109; followed by Laguna, 172,846; City of Manila, 154,353; and Rizal, 148,038.

Among the provinces in CALABARZON, active cases in Cavite topped the list with 1,435 cases followed by Laguna, 1,304; Batangas, 739; Rizal, 301, Quezon, 301; and Lucena, 37.

The top five cities and municipalities in terms of active cases are Bacoor, 323; Imus, 192; General Trias, 141; DasmariƱas, 135; and Tanza, 119. Cumulative case counts of said cities and municipalities are also the top five in the province.

The occupancy rate level in Cavite is still considered safe with total bed occupancy of 37.3 percent, 60 beds of which are ICU beds and 651 are non-ICU beds. 

Cavite remains to be under Alert Level 1 for August 1 to 15, 2022.

Since the pandemic broke out in March 2020, Cavite recorded a total of 179,035 COVID cases, 173,954 recoveries, and 3,646 deaths, with a case fatality rate of 2.04 percent.

Data from the National COVID-19 Vaccination Dashboard as of August 15, 2022 recorded a total of 23,376,796 doses administered in CALABARZON, with 10,483,849 who completed their primary series and 2,860,276 who received their booster dose.
